LIBRARY & MEDIA CENTRE PM SHRI K V RHE PUNE
The school library is often hailed as the heart of any educational institution, a sanctuary of knowledge where students embark on intellectual journeys and cultivate a love for reading and learning. It serves not only as a repository of books but also as a place where students can explore, discover, and expand their horizons beyond the confines of textbooks and classrooms.
Beyond academics, the school library plays a pivotal role in nurturing a reading culture among students. It offers a diverse collection of fiction and non-fiction books, catering to different interests and reading levels. By exposing students to a variety of literary works, the library encourages them to explore new genres, authors, and ideas. This exposure not only enhances their reading comprehension but also enriches their imagination and empathy. Our library has collection of around 8,000 books to foster their reading needs, which are kept in different almirahs. The library has well equipped furniture for reading.
In the digital age, information literacy is a vital skill that students must develop. The school library equips students with the ability to locate, evaluate, and effectively use information from various sources. Librarians teach students how to navigate databases, discern credible sources from unreliable ones, and cite references properly. These skills are essential for academic success and lifelong learning.
Moreover, the school library serves as a cultural and social hub within the institution. It hosts events such as author visits, book fairs, and reading clubs that foster a sense of community among students, teachers, and parents. These activities not only celebrate literature but also promote discussions on important societal issues, encouraging students to think critically and engage actively in their communities.
In recent years, school libraries have evolved to incorporate technology into their services. Many libraries offer digital resources, e-books, and online databases that students can access remotely. This integration of technology enhances accessibility and convenience, allowing students to pursue their academic interests beyond the physical confines of the library. We have 12 computers in our library to foster the needs of 21st century skills.
In conclusion, the school library is not merely a collection of books but a dynamic educational resource that empowers students with knowledge, cultivates a passion for reading, and prepares them for lifelong learning. It remains a cornerstone of academic life, inspiring generations of students to explore, discover, and pursue their intellectual curiosities.
